7/1/2010 Ok, we went here with a group of 10-12 people. We sat outside and it was beautiful... the server was SUPER friendly and helpful. They have a large selection of microbrews from all over the country and their menu of burgers is out of this world... so many choices... but basically it comes down to four steps. We ordered some onion rings that were HUGE and very good with some fancy sauce and the friend pickles were also very good with the same sauce.

1) Choose your bun: i dont know what the others were but the pretzel bun was awesome, do that!

2) Choose your meat: There were all kinds of meat options for your meat, they all were good from what I heard! Bison, etc.

3) Choose your cheese: Gouda is GOODA!!

4) Choose your other paraphenalia: onions and mushrooms and bacon, OH MY!

My basic summary is, go here, sit outside, drink a micro brew and eat a fabulous burger!

PS They served Rehorst vodka and gin here from the local micro-distillery which was cool.

6/17/2010 My wife and I went to Stack'd during Milwaukee Pride Weekend. The after parties were being hosted there, and although we didn't feel up for going during the after party, the advertisement had peaked my interest. After checking out their website, I was craving a burger and we decided to stop by earlier in the day in order to beat the crowds.

When we arrived the restaurant was relatively full, and more cramped than I care for. I prefer roomier restaurants, where I don't feel like I'm sharing elbow space with the absolute stranger next to me. But at least we got a table right away, and were able to place our drink orders.

We both went with the spiked Grasshoppers, and they were delicious. The mint flavor was strong, and they came in decent sized glasses, so we felt like we get our $8 worth.

We skipped the appetizers, mostly because we weren't looking to spend a ridiculous amount of money at a burger joint. But they definitely sounded good, and we would have given them a try if we had more people with us to share them with.

When it came to the burgers, my wife kept it simple with the grass fed beef burger and cheddar cheese on the pretzel bun with onion rings on the side.

I went with the Morel Butter Burger, which was the special of the month. It was a bison burger, gouda cheese, and morel butter, on a pretzel bun with the twisted mac and cheese on the side.

Both of us ordered our burgers medium-well and they came out nice and pink, not overdone or dry at all. The pretzel buns were amazing, to the point where I am thinking about having the buns shipped to our house, so we can have burgers on them whenever we want. They are a must try. The fried pickle chips were also a pleasant surprise. I had never had fried pickles before, but they were crisp and flavorful. My wife enjoyed the beef, and the bison was really good. I'm always happy when restaurants offer it as an alternative to regular beef.

As far as the sides go, we didn't devour them, but that's mostly because the burgers were rather filling. The onion rings were thick and crisp. The twisted mac and cheese was different, but very tasty. There were crunchy bread crumbs on top, which I love. The flavor was sharper than what you'd expect from a typical mac and cheese, but I believe that's because they use blue cheese as well as gouda and cheddar. Overall a good grown up version of a classic.

As far as the service goes, we had a good experience. They were busy, and we didn't expect to be waited on hand and foot, especially since there were some intoxicated people in the restaurant being troublemakers. But we had our order taken within a reasonable amount of time, and our food came out relatively quickly. Our server was polite and friendly, and came back to the table to check on us often enough.

The atmosphere wasn't great. As I mentioned earlier, it was a bit cramped, and with the few people being obnoxious it was a bit unpleasantly loud, but at another time it probably would have been better. It's a cute little place that is probably very comfortable during off hours.

Overall, I would recommend checking it out. But if you're gonna go in for drinks, appetizers, and burgers, be prepared for a bigger check than usual when it comes to burger joints.
