Have come in with my family a number of times and always been extremely happy witht the food and have enjoyed getting to know the friendly members of the staff. Somewhat casual atmosphere may catch uppity folks off guard but we enjoy their genuine benevolence and care for the place.

History in the making!

Just dined at the Historic Red Mill and loved it. This building is one of the oldest in Waukesha accoriding to the owners and has a colorful history. The history making will continue if my experience is any indication. Friendly staff (service might be considered on the slow side but I liked not be rushed out the door), excellent food and a great bar. I ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon with sweet potatoes fries and my dinner mate ordered the perch fish fry. The food was straight out of the kitchen and hot, hot, hot. Cooked to perfection. Even veggies were not overcooked. If I have a complaint it would be the dessert menu. Nothing special on it. I prefer fresh desserts not standard fare from a bakery. I am sure the dessert taste fine but they are not prepared onsight. New to the area but this little gem will become a standby for dinner and I really did not need dessert!!

I frequent The Historic Red Mill now and again and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about any of my experiences!I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cajun Scallop BLT Sandwich! It's definitely enough for 2 meals! I always end up taking the second half home! For $1 extra you can upgrade the starch to sweet potato fries and warm syrup, which I also highly recommend! It's surely worth it!Cajun Scallop BLT Sandwich $11.99Blackened scallops served on a Ciabatta roll with Neuski's bacon, lettuce, tomato and chipotle aioli sauce for dipping.Another one of my favorites is the London Broil. I've never had anything like it! MY brother ordered it so I only sampled it- but I would definitely order it for myself!London Broil $14.99Tender slices of certified Angus bistro steak grilled to your liking and served with a red wine, mushroom, veal demi-glaze. Served with mashed potatoes and vegetable du jour.
