9/1/2010 I have been here for lunch and for dinner, and I plan on going back. Here is why I like this place.
First, the food is great, and reminds me of my visits to France. One dish I especially liked was the Trout. It was a full trout cut down the center with the bones a head removed served on top of string beans and lemon capers. The portion of fish was quite large and cooked well too. The trout was seasoned nicely with pepper and herbs, and pan fried in butter on both sides. I was delighted that too much butter was not used, as what often happens at other "french" restaurants.
The split pea soup was also very good.
In addition to the food being good and tasting authentic (at least to a non-french like me), I really like the vibe. The whole place has a comfortable, non-pretentious, and relaxed feel as reflected in the service. I am not saying the service is slow, because I watched my server literally run from table to table during a very busy rush. The style of the place is that you can dress casual and take your time enjoying the food, company and atmosphere without some one trying to turn over tables and push you out.
They have a garden in the back that is full of green plants and colorful string lights for the evening. But the vibe inside is equally as nice.
I like this place and think it adds so much to the Prospect heights area. If you are not from the area, I think this is place worth traveling too.
Next time I will try their coffee, and see if that is at the same standards....

8/19/2010 I frequent this place... and i like it!
There used to be a couple of Le Gamin in Manhattan that I'd go to for brunch or coffee, seems like this is one of the last ones left around. And it's convenient that it's not too far from em =)
It's just a little bistro some may say... but it's a damn good one I say. It's got a worn-in kind of look, but comfy. I like that they revamped their backyard area and it's inviting on nice days out. It's always a great place to meet a friend or two for some consistent good grub.
The food? Oh right.. the food! The regular brunch fare- omelettes etc. But they're quite good! And the crepes? The crepes are tasty. Just an overall good experience in the mouth. Service is prompt and friendly as soon as you walk in. At times it gets busy, but the turn around is pretty good. They won't rush you if you're reading the Sunday times or one of the magazines laying around.
I haven't tried their happy hour or dinner as of yet. On my to-do list.

8/30/2010 1 Check-in Here The neighborhood wouldn't be the same without this key spot. The staff is friendly, even when they are packed, which is often and the neighborhood is the best in Brooklyn - Prospect Heights. Can't compare.
