Delicious authentic Chinese Dining

I would have never ventured into this unassuming little eatery on state street had it not been for the recommendation of some Chinese colleagues. I let them order, and had the most delicious Chinese dinner of my life. I recommend starting with the crab claw appetizer - it's a delightful combination of crab and (I think) shrimp meats stuffed into a crab claw and deep fried. The sweet sauce that is served with it provides a wonderful accent. Next, I recommend ordering the West Lake soup. It's a lot like eggdrop soup, except that it contains some pork and white mushroom. The main courses are wonderful, and I have many favorites, including salt baked pork (or salt baked anything, for that matter), fish cake, shrimp cakes, wallnut shrimp with white sauce, eggplant hotpot, and crab with ginger and scallion, to name a few. Tsingtao Chinese beer makes a wonderful accompanyment for all these meals. Each time I visit, the wait staff jokes that my orders get "more authenticly Chinese".
Tasty Business

The Golden Phoenix offers some of the best Chinese Food in the city, particularly if the patrons are willing to break away from their comfort zone and order something off of the chef's specialties list. The family dinners are great for larger parties. I recommend the Dinner B plan that comes with wanton soup and ginger silver wrapped chicken. The service isn't always great, but it's never bad, and the food is tasty
